Some portend revolutions, others look for a savior, many give up, some roll up their sleeves and ‘do something’, many look around for signals, cues, they try to figure what is happening in many ways (e.g. change jobs, look for meaning, change life, immigrate, help others).

At the same time, we feel that, what we know is not enough anymore, it does not solve the problems, does not explain “things”, but we don’t know any better, apparently we don’t have new solutions, new explanations. We have a hard time rationalizing “the thing”, we can’t measure it and the more we divide it (to better compreend) the less we understand. What has always been linear, deterministic, worked as a machine (so say the elders) is not working anymore. And we keep pointing fingers, to the politicians, the managers, the religions of others, the political system of others…always looking outside, always seeing the bad in others but never inside ourselves, a tipical reaction when we are confused, don’t know what to do and, of course, “we can’t be the cause ourselves”.

But something is wrong! We feel it! We feel that we need to change! We feel that is changing! How to explain this feeling that something is wrong but we can´t say what this something is ? How can we do different ? Vote for who ?

Our feel is chemical, atomic, comes from the environment with which we are in permanent interaction, in an eternal dance. Our understanding emerges from life, from the consciousness that our brain make arise. From this consciousness results the act of knowing – what knows a man from himself ? We make sense of the world with representations (models) that our brain produces from what we feel, a feeling with all the senses. Our understanding is therefore limited by ourselves and the knowing subjective. In addition we communicate with language (more models).

And these models, what are they ? These models are entangled in us by education, culture, socialization, … they make us believe in a way of organizing societies, in all levels, where ones “think” and others “execute”, organize…. the ones that “execute” don’t care, because the ones that think will figure a way out; models that make us believe that we can understand the ‘WHOLE’ because we understand the ‘parts’; if it works here, we extrapolate, then it will work there; models that allow human beings to be classified around their properties like race, age, gender, place of birth, economic wealth, …

Models are excellent, but they are just models. They have their boundaries, their domain of application. We need to be aware of the model. We could know many models or just one, it’s irrelevant, since we know that models have a limited scope and that may exist alternative models (we could know only one language but we can´t assume that the one that talks another language doesn’t know how to communicate).

We are confused because the analysis that we are making with the models we have, does not explain what we see. We are confused because the models we have trigger actions that, instead of getting better, most times gets worst, sometimes getting better in the short run, first.

We need new models! Will we have to wait for these models to be created? And who will create them ?

We. The ones that decided to act. The ones that already figured out the limitation of the models. The ones that know that the solution is in our learning capability, even if they don’t know how to explain. Our capability of learning is native, is embedded in our self and it forces us to interact with our enviroment. The MOVIMENTO has started.

MOVIMENTO !? What MOVIMENTO ?

The MOVIMENTO understands the person as oneness and doesn’t segregate anyone based in attribute or property, independent of their nature (e.g. biological, cultural, economical). Each person has a unique history that gives her an unique cognitive value. An unique hability of seeing the world, of understanding the life. The social sciences saw the human beings as civilized or not civilized, no more than a century ago, and some ones ‘deserved’ more than others, were superior, in the most interesting variables of analysis. Seeing the oneness of the human beings has two consequences: every person is capable of ‘computing’ information she understands (in wider sense, in an organic sense, like the ‘computation’ of a anthill or the human brain); every person is able to learn new ways of understanding the information. This person has determination and free will.

• Each person has a unique ‘computation’ as a result of their unique history, from the way she has felt the world since their conception and the interaction she is developing with their environment.
• Each person seizes the world in different rhythms, as result of their biologic structure and their sum of all experiences of the interactions with the environment (from chemical to biologic, social and spiritual).
• Each person has de ability to make their decisions with the information available and with the their ‘computation’, each time. Sees the error as means, not an end, an indicator of their learning.
• The full potential of each person needs that fundamental rights be assured, to assure their free choice (e.g. life right, free speech).

We are not equal. We are all different!

We know different things. We like different things. We are composed by differrent atoms. We have different histories. We have different memories. We are unique.

The MOVIMENTO understands the change by design and don’t postpone solutions depending on the information available in each person. If each person is able to ‘compute’ information, the question is how to deliver information to each person for their ‘computation’ ? If one only understands portuguese i have to translate the information, i have to be a mediator; if one don’t know how to read i have to design for… If each person is able to learn new ways of understanding the information, the question is how can i trigger that learning ? The answer is ‘design to’. Rejecting impossibilities. Not excluding. Including and considering all, designing for all, one by one. Designing with all. Seeing the fault and error as information that allows new iteration, a better new version.

• To successfully get some «action» done that requires a group to do, the whole group must want to get the same «action» done
• The best place to control «action» is where that «action» takes place
• The more information people are given about things that affect getting results, the more they will work to reach those results
• People given the chance to help decide how to get an «action» done will then want to get it done

We do not have to wait a generation to change. The chande is present, with all the (unique) persons we have, respecting the time needed for each one to change, i.e., learning to understand the information in another way and make the information available for ‘computation’. I’m the only one that can change my self. We can only design the context where the change – learning – happens.

With these principles, where some see an end, we saw a continuous flow. Where some see an impossibility, we saw new possibilities. Where some see problems, we saw solutions.

What a thrill! Each person is an atom, able of forming an Universe and their multiplicity. Each person is a bacteria, able of create the Life and their multiplicity. Each person is a neuron, able of create consciousness and their fulness.

The strength of the individual. From ONE. Micro.

We need so many ONEs for organizing communities. What governs this interations that create such diversity and complexity ?

The MOVIMENTO is governed by a set of values that are able of create new «patterns of action», new results. These values don’t substitute old values, rather allow new combinations that help us to have more insight about what surround us and to explore new ways.

The values that have been dominating the «action», for centuries, seek to subjugate the other, submit to the will of a majority, a social class, a ethnic group, a religion, … seek quantities, everything is measured and we only manage what is measured, what is known, what is explicit, we fight for resources, for winning, for being better than the other, being ahead of the other, in an expansionist movement of unlimited resources. This leads to certain models of seeing the humanity and their «action» as well the way that «action» is organized. The persons are considered around attributes of power and the organizations are designed to manage the power. The hierarchies are the structures that are in this «patterns of action». The machine!

These values are important. They bring us to the present and have a record of prosperity for a lot of people, the highest ever. But we all feel that they are not enough to understand the present and design the future. We need to combine this values with other values. Instead of eliminate values, we need to balance with other values that can create new understanding, new solutions.

We need interactions that assume resources are finite and are designed to conserve them, balancing the expansionist perspectives that has been followed until now. Does this means that we need to leave all the knowledge created until now ? No. It means that instead of always making new paper we can start using recycling, combining two different perspectives in a movement of continuous adjustment.

We need interactions more oriented to cooperation and that acknowledge that there are several ways of winning. The balance between competition and cooperation will create new interations that take advantage of the human knowledge. May every person be excelent, the best. We do not want mediocrity standardized, instead the excellence of each person. But with new cooperation that allows new human ventures (the future ‘wikipedia’s).

We need interactions that involve what we know, what is measured, with what we don’t know, with what we feeling, with what is qualified. Where the tacit is combined with the explicit, the formal with the informal, creating a new understanding. How can we measure love and hate ?

We need interactions that change the focus of power; from domination to partnership, to a consent and desired collaboration. We need to seek what motivates each person, what makes people get together and endeavor in the new frontiers of mankind. The networks are the new way of organizing that emerge from th values. The ecology (life, organic)!

The MOVIMENTO has ways of thinking that are able to consider other perspectives, other ways, to analyse other alternatives. The social structures encourage some kinds of thinking. When we are subjected to new challenges, the standardization of thinking freezes us all.
In the last centuries we developed ways of thinking that took the mankind to the higest level of progress ever: material progress, social progress, intellectual progress, spiritual progress. But the in the present the challenges are huge and with a scale of magnitude we did not expect and never saw.

The generalized ways of thinking focus on the rational, the analysis, reductionist and linear. The information processing machine!

We need interactions that are able of dealing with the rational and with the mechanisms of reason (like logic) but that are balanced with the intuitive, with feelings, with what we feel and can’t be explained, with the emotions.

We need interactions that are able of making analysis, of analytic characterization, but balanced with synthesis. A multidisciplinary synthesis that contemplates different perspectives like the scientific, philosophical, artistic or spiritual.

We need interactions that are able of dividing in parts, reducing, and make analysis to understand the parts. But are aware of the limitations of reducing. That acknowledge the ‘WHOLE’ emerges from the ‘parts’ and can be apprehended only with holistic and integral perspectives.

We need interactions that are able to linearize (few variables), that simplify, that create models for precise contexts. But also understand that the variables are infinite and that another model is waiting around the corner, a new perspective, a new way of combining the knowledge, creating new interpretations and consequences.

We need interactions that create new ways of thinking for the creation of new models, with differente properties, that allow new interpretation and new «patterns of action». Models that combine the knowledge of mankind in a different way and in the process, create new knowledge. The ecology that ‘computes’ information.

We shall say that we share the same epistemology, the complexity one (complexity science).

What a thrill! Each person is in an WHOLE that empowers her, that amplifies her history of interactions, i.e., what she know is combined with what the other knows and combined with all the rest. The ONE creates the WHOLE in perpetual MOVIMENTOs of amplification and meaning.

Who are the individuals with these powers? How do we find them?

The MOVIMENTO is shaped by people of the present, with their history of interactions (chemical, biological, social, cultural, …), people that, according to some models, could be good or evil (or something in the middle), scientists, artists, technicians, managers, …, competent or incompetent, participatory or non participatory, with a degree or not, young, old, with or without religion, from one race or another, from a gender or another, …in another words, people, like each of us, living and with freedom of choice.

These free persons see the universe as complex and beautiful, and share the same perplexity of Universe. They have needs and they clearly manifest them, trying to balance their actions in the following vectors:

• The need make money to assure a good life (economic)
• They love to learn and learning is their nature (learning)
• They enjoy what they do and want to do what they enjoy (motivation)
• They belong to an WHOLE and want to contribute to that WHOLE and to the other (citizenship)

This MOVIMENTO is a MOVIMENTO of learning, in a deep sense. A learning that evolved along million years, creating all the life and the complexity of our Universe. A learning that stepped to a new dimension, with the human consciousness – what knows a person about herself ? – and is building a consciousness of the WHOLE – what knows the mankind about herself ?

A learning that is like a Russian doll, inside has another learning, infinitely small. And also, belongs to a bigger doll. This is the ‘bigger’ that we are building, and each time more conscious about the process.

We! The MOVIMENTO!

This MOVIMENTO uses 3 building blocks that handles in certain ways, to trigger understanding and action.

An element that empowers each person, a human cognitive computing. The “collective intelligence”. The “cognitive surplus”. This sublime exercise of each man, that with his unique history, collect information with his being (mind and body) and ‘computes’ in a unique way, being able of articulate the result in language, and therefore communicate.

An element of mediation, that joins (potentially) all persons. A technological mediation (e.g. internet). Delivers the information, takes the information on context and embeds their organization in the context.This mediation potentiates the human cognitive computing and allows amplification movements of knowledge, energy and acceleration of transformation – learning.

An element of ethical regulation. An ethics of the person as oneness. An ethics of the human rights. An ethics of a Planet as oneness. An ethics of the Planet’s rights.

To intervene! To action! To get together persons that feel a need of action. Persons that alone are turned off, but turn on in the presence of others.

The MOVIMENTO whats to intervene. Intervene by joining and intregating people and knowledge.

Wants to intervene in civic life, to announce the ‘good news’ and ensure that everyone can participate. Unstoppable cycle of <share knowledge – collect knowledge>. Ensuring the conditions of access to knowledge.

Wants to intervene in economic life, to explore new economic models that allows us to create new economic organizations, viable and transformative, able to create a new value ethics.

Wants to intervene in artistic life, to explore this new landscapes and help us to feel what we can´t understand.

Wants to intervene in scientific life, to explore new models and create new knowledge.

Wants to intervene in philosophic life, challenging the frontiers of this epistomology and speculate about the frontiers of science, art and others ways of intervention.

Wants to intervene in spiritual life that continues to raise the human spirit.

Wants to intervene in a multidiciplinary way, crossing disciplines and fields of knowledge, trying to expand the frontiers of human knowledge.
